TCOLE Self-Aid / Buddy-Aid (TECC for Law Enforcement)
Stop the Bleed. Win the Fight. Save Your Partner.
In high-threat encounters, severe hemorrhage can cause fatal blood loss in under three minutes—long before EMS can safely enter the scene. Texas law enforcement officers must be equipped with the lifesaving medical tactical skills needed to keep themselves and their partners in the fight.
Aligned with Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) guidelines, this TCOLE-certified course bridges the gap between active threat intervention and emergency medical response. Officers will learn how to apply evidence-based trauma care under direct fire, in warm-zone cover, and during casualty evacuation—turning officers into immediate responders when seconds count most.
What You Will Master
-
Care Under Fire (Direct Threat Care): Priority of fire, self-extraction, rapid tourniquet application under fire, and maintaining tactical dominance while injured.
-
Tactical Field Care (Indirect Threat Care): Systematized casualty assessment (MARCH protocol: Massive Bleeding, Airway, Respiration, Circulation, Hypothermia).
-
Massive Hemorrhage Control: High-and-tight vs. anatomical tourniquet placement, wound packing with hemostatic gauze, and pressure dressing application.
-
Airway & Respiratory Management: Recovery position, NPA (Nasopharyngeal Airway) insertion, and managing chest seals for open pneumothorax (sucking chest wounds).
-
Casualty Movement & Evacuation: One-man drags, two-man carries, improvised litters, and organizing extraction under cover.
-
Scenario-Based Stress Drills: High-stress, low-light, and force-on-force practical application using training gear and simulated injuries.
